Implementing Carbon Literacy Training
Rachel recently participated in Carbon Literacy training with Net Zero Stratford as part of the Great Big Green Week and is proud to now be Certified Carbon Literate. The course, developed by The Carbon Literacy Project Home - The Carbon Literacy Project offered an in-depth look at the causes of climate change and the steps needed to reach Net Zero. It raised awareness of how everyday choices affect the climate and highlighted the role of both individual and collective action in a positive and empowering way.
While substantial global and policy shifts are essential, Rachel believes personal choices still make a meaningful difference. She recommends the course to anyone who wants to better understand climate change and take practical steps to reduce their carbon footprint.
In the built environment, constructing and operating buildings contributes significantly to carbon emissions. Within her practice, Rachel works to reduce this impact wherever possible and is committed to going further. She is passionate about guiding clients in making informed decisions that consider not only the energy use of completed spaces but also the carbon footprint of materials and products used in construction.
This knowledge continues to grow across a wide portfolio of low carbon and low energy projects.
The Lodge is a single-storey home being built currently to support a couple to manage the surrounding woodland in a home with low impact on the surrounding environment.
Belper Road is a recently completed timber-framed house, designed with low-energy principles at the heart to maximise light and views whilst minimising heat loss and overheating with high performing fabric is supported by renewable technology.
We are also excited to see a new house project start on site in Sheffield in the coming months that is aiming to be a certified Passivhaus for a couple committed to creating a sustainable future for their young family, guiding the design process using the Passivhaus Planning Package.
Many thanks to Net Zero Stratford (Net Zero – Stratford's home for community climate action) for putting on the course and all the great work they are doing to raise awareness throughout the community. We hope to visit the Climate Hub soon!
